8 cute places to get coffee in Chicago
/Today is international coffee day and in the spirit of this VERY sacred day...I wanted to share my FAVORITE places to grab a cup of joe in Chicago.
I don’t know about you but if I don’t have a cup of coffee DAILY I get massive headaches. I’m pretty sure that’s the number one sign that I’m addicted, but hey… could be worse?? Now, I’ll be honest, when I’m at home I’m a strictly two cups of Keurig coffee kind of gal. But when I’m out and about I’m in search of the cutest, most instaworthy coffee shop to get my fix. Who’s with me??
Here are my top 8 favorite places to grab a cup of coffee in Chicago
THE GODDESS AND THE BAKER
Rainbow cake?!?! Gold glitter latte?!?!? Need I say more?! I’m all about an extra over the top treat to both make your tummy happy & spice up your insta feed. The Goddess and the Baker is the PERFECT spot for all your over the top coffee and sweet treat needs. I love to take my out of town friends here because there’s locations right by Millennium Park and the Chicago River.
3 ARTS CLUB CAFE
Want to live out your chicest coffee-sipping fantasies and pretend like you’re in Paris - head to 3 Arts Club Cafe inside Restoration Hardware in the Gold Coast. Unsurprisingly, this cafe is all about aesthetics. And let me just say, NAILED IT. That chandelier!?!?! I can’t. It’s too good. Oh and so is the coffee. I like to come here for a leisurely morning to catch up with friends or with my emails…
MAISON MARCEL
Keeping with the Parisian theme, head up north to hang at Maison Marcel. While it calls itself a French cafe, it reminds me more of the chic coffee shops you might find along Abbot Kinney in Venice. From the swinging hammocks and peacock wicker chairs to the freshly made pastries and delicious organic coffee - it’s pretty easy to understand why this is one of my favorite spots to hang. Oooo and don’t forget to snap a photo in front of the restaurant’s mural…
C.C. FERNS
If I had a boyfriend or if I was going on a coffee date I’d go here. This spot is cool, cozy and serves INCREDIBLE coffee. BONUS - they have a rotating selection of Doughnut Vault doughnuts. The shop gives me speakeasy, log cabin, cigar lounge vibes (PS they sell cigars). It’s cool! Bring your dude and then he won’t totally want to kill you when you ask for a photo with your pretty cappuccino.
THE ALLIS
If your parents aren’t paying for your Soho House membership - you can chill with all the other peasants at The Allis! LOL - that was harsh but I had to make the joke. Truly, I love the vibes here. This is where I come to work or when I need a break from the cold when walking around the West Loop in the BRUTAL Chicago winter months.
CAFFE STREETS
Okay, I’ll be honest, I initially came here just to see the ceiling (it’s so cool). But then, of course, I had to stay for the coffee. I love that they have this rotating secret menu of drinks and a really quirky and fun Instagram. IDK just go support if you’re in Wicker Park - you won’t be sorry.
THE LANGHAM
PLOT TWIST - I’m adding in a spot where you need to have Afternoon Tea. I mean you can order coffee there too, it’s fab, but the high tea experience is where it’s at! This has become a fun tradition for me and Linda around the holidays. Indulge in sweet scones and dainty finger sandwiches while you sip on sweet or spicy tea. DOESN’T THIS SOUND FUN?!?!
BEATRIX
This is my go-to spot if I’m running around River North. The highlight of this trip used to be saying hey to my gal pal Maddie who used to be the manager (MISS YOU MADS!) but now it’s become a staple spot. And hey, last time I was in there I saw Emmy Rossum ordering something from the bakery - so if it’s good enough for her, it’s good enough for me!
There’s a couple different locations in the city, check which one is closest to you here!
WELL, I HOPE THIS WAS EVERYTHING YOU HOPED FOR AND MORE!!!! Now go celebrate this great day with a cup of coffee from one of these incredible establishments. And if there’s a spot I missed, LET ME KNOW! I’m always looking for a new coffee shop to chill at (I mean take pictures at…).
