SO YOU’RE READY TO PEEP SOME FALL LEAVES AND DRINK SOME SPICED CIDER - BUT WHAT THE HECK DO YOU BRING ON THE PERFECT FALL TRIP?!

Have no fear, the fall queen is here…

You know I love fall more than, well most everything. Just not more than my cats. And I’ve been lucky enough to see some pretty stunning places in autumn - like New York, Prague and Romania! So it’s fair to say I know a thing or two about how to pack for the perfect fall trip.

Whether it’s a weekend trip to upstate New York or a full fledged international trip, there are some key pieces you need to make sure to pack on ANY fall trip.

Here’s a quick list:

  • A versatile coat

  • A stylish jacket

  • Jeans that work for day or night

  • Comfy day dresses

  • A fun evening outfit, because why not?

  • Light layers

  • Sweaters

  • Scarf

  • A GREAT hat

  • Booties & or Boots

  • Comfy walking shoes

  • Slide ons

  • Killer accessories to switch up your lewk

I don’t want to throw out any numbers because we all know how much I like to overpack… So use your own discretion.

Fall tends to be a pretty unpredictable time of year when it comes to weather. Plus, depending on the month your traveling and where you’re traveling, the weather may or may not warrant warmer layers. So my advice is to check out a site called Holiday Weather to see what the projected temps will be during the time you’ll be in that destination. And adjust accordingly!

Here’s my favorite fall styles and fall outfit inspiration!

A VERSITILE COAT

Because autumn weather can be unpredictable, a coat that works in a few different situations can be great. I often like to travel with two main coats. One that’s more dressy for the evening and one that can be worn during the day when you’re walking around.

STYLISH JACKET

I believe it’s always best to have options, especially when weather is involved. SO, I like to bring at least one, let’s be honest three, different jackets I can mix and match with my outfits. My go to fall trio is usually: a motto jacket, leather jacket and a fun extra faux fur jacket.

JEANS THAT WORK FOR DAY OR NIGHT

There is nothing quite like finding that perfect pair of jeans that you want to wear every day from now until eternity because let’s be real you’ll be buried in them. I like to bring one pair of light wash and one pair of dark wash jeans with me to play around with. Here’s some of my favs below!

COMFY DAY DRESSES

Depending on when you’re traveling and flowey day dress could be the perfect option for when you’re exploring a new city. I primarily pack dresses because - less to pack & think about. Pair it with a jacket or top it with a sweater if you’re feelin a little chilly!

A FUN EVENING OUTFIT

I mean why not go a little extra at night? Find a cute spot for dinner or a fancy place to grab a cocktail. Nothing wrong with wanting to dress up while on vacay! I try and layer in the fall when I’m going out so I’m not too cold outside and too hot inside.

LIGHT LAYERS

Since it might be chilly in the morning and warm in the afternoon, I love to dress in a few different layers if I can. Usually it’s some sort of light top + a jacket + a scarf. That way if I get hot I can shed some items and be good to go!

SWEATERS!!!!

I mean this is really a fall staple… Find some that are thicker and can double as a jacket. I like to at least pack a super warm sweater and one that can be layered under a leather jacket for the evening.

A GREAT HAT

Nothing pulls an outfit together better than a statement hat. Plus, when I travel, I want to minimize the amount of times I was my hair (because I’m lazy). So the hat is a perfect thing to cover up when your hair is dirty and not even military grade dry shampoo will help the cause.

A SCARF! OR TWO…

I never travel without a blanket scarf. They are a game changer on planes as I never really want to rely on the sketch blanket that’s provided on most international flights…Plus they are great to add dimension and style to any outfit.

BOOTIES & OR BOOTS

I’M SO HAPPY THAT BOOTIES ARE A THING. I’m not sure when they started but I’m so happy they are around. These are usually what I pack instead of heels for a fall trip abroad. They are much more comfortable and practical (especially if you’re in Europe and there’s cobblestones just there for the sole purpose of making you trip). During the day I love a flat booty for walking around.

COMFY WALKING SHOES

Comfy walking shoes can be different for ANYONE. I tend to like to stick to a classic white sneaker during the day walking around. If it’s not too long of a day I’ll opt for some slides or flats. It all depends on how much support you need. But you really can’t beat a sneaker (plus they’re super in style now).

KILLER ACCESSORIES TO SWITCH UP YOUR LEWK

If you’re traveling like most sane people do, you’ve limited the amount of clothes you brought. But any outfit can look completely different with the proper accessories. Add a belt, glasses, statement jewelry to even just a plain black dress and you automatically have three totally different looks.
